Hallllo!
So today, I went the farthest I've ever been on the island of Manhattan. It was an excellent spring day, and I got off the A train at 190th street and WOAH. Like WOAH. It did not look like Manhattan at all. It looked like what Niagara falls looks like in Canada minus the waterfalls. Fort Tryon, and the Met's Cloisters, were absolutely, out of this city, stunning. So I went there! And after seeing superbly amazing Medieval monastary art and architecture, tagging along with a tour guide, I realized just how beautiful and symbolic millefleur are. Millefleur, French for a thousand flowers, are those tiny floral decorations and backgrounds on Medieval tapestries. The tour guide was explaining how every flower, had a Christian meaning behind it, and how modern botanists were able to identify quite a lot of them. They look so beautiful and rich up close. And so meticulously made! But the most amazing part of them, is how there is a thousand, symbolic, meticulously made, authentic, flowers on a carpet used to insulate walls.
:)
